Octopus Go is Octopus Energy's time-of-use electricity tariff with a cheap overnight window. Octopus's Go product page describes "super cheap electricity between 00:30 - 05:30 every night", says you need a smart meter it can connect to, and says you need an electric car that you charge at home. Smart Tariffs terms 2.1.3 state that Go is designed for customers who own or have a long-term lease of a battery-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle that they will charge at the home Octopus supplies. If you sign up without meeting that, Octopus can place you on an alternative tariff.

What it means for a home battery

Go is the tariff Habo uses for its public best-case homepage maths because the night-to-day gap is large enough to repay a pack that charges once overnight, for an eligible Go household. On the current Octopus Go 12M Fixed product GO-FIX-12M-26-10-14 (still available on 28 October 2026 via the Octopus API, with no available_to date), the night rate is 9.4p per kWh and the day rate runs from 35.293p (East Midlands) to 39.3081p (Merseyside and North Wales). Habo's best-case homepage maths for a 5 kWh EcoFlow STREAM, after an assumed 90% round-trip efficiency and one full cycle a day, are about £453 to £527 a year (£453.49 to £526.76 before rounding), a best-case payback of about 4.7 to 5.5 years on £2,499. Real savings will be lower if you do not use a full cycle every day.

Go is not the only Octopus option. Intelligent Octopus Go, Cosy and export products have different hours and eligibility. For a wider comparison see best tariffs for battery storage, which Octopus tariff for a battery, and Intelligent Octopus Go's six-hour cap. Always read the live product page and your contract before you switch. Run your own day and night rates on the calculator. Habo's offer is an electrician-wired EcoFlow STREAM from £2,499.
